Blank Cheque

...Its Lengthy....make some coffee and enjoy!!!

Let us take our mind on a little tour, ‘Jennifer is a hardworking lady who has been working for an audit firm for the past five years. Despite the fact that she is excellent in her duties, she has never received a pay-rise. As the years went by, life became meaner, but despite her numerous queries and complaints to the management, nothing happened. One Friday afternoon, Jennifer was called in by her manager; this was after she had sent in her letter of resignation from the company. Having heard her completely, the manager gave her a blank cheque and told her to fill in the amount she thought she was worth. Now, let us personalize Jennifer’s situation and put ourselves in her shoes; how much would you write?

Similar to Jennifer’s situation, so is life generally. Our lives are like the blank cheque given to Jennifer, for one to write an amount they find themselves worth! If you think less of yourself, meaning you are at a range of $ 1, then that is what you will get from life, but if you think you are worth a million dollars, so will it be. The Latin’s summarized all this in the simplest way using the phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ meaning seize the day. Knowing  life is not a rehearsal, we should seize every moment that comes our way. As you have seen above, my emphasis is on seizing a moment, and not an opportunity..... find out the difference!!

Barrack Obama said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change we seek.” These words sparked an urge of deep conviction in me that I have what it takes, to be the best. What or whom are you waiting for? Winning is a state of mind, and thus without a winning attitude, all plans you have shall be in vain.

As you hold your blank cheque in hand, pondering how much you think you are worth, I would like to leave you in a situation that will set pace for our next discussion. “You have just entered a lift on the fourth floor. Inside the lift stands Zuckerberg, Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey or any other high and mighty you adore in your society. They are bound to leave the lift on the fifth floor. You only have 30 seconds of fame. What will you say, or how will you introduce yourself so as to make sure that he or she would crave to see you again, or give you their business card instantly?”  Comment that I may learn from your 30 seconds in the spotlight.  Carpe Diem!!!!
